SCHOOLS

Being with a quiet, calm therapy animal stimulates the body's hormone production, which increases a feeling of safety and trust.  The presence of a gentle animal can reduce a child's overstimulation and anxiety since no words are needed.

Write with Me - Madison County Elementary School

Selected students focus on making good behavior choices so they can earn time with a therapy team. Students choose which activity to do with the therapy animal that day and photographs are taken and printed during the activity. Afterward, the pictures are added to a book the student is 'writing.' At the end of the semester, each student will share their book with their class.

Kathy is their Writing Buddy, escorting students to and from the activity room.

Reading Enrichment - Huntsville Inner City Learning Center

Students read to AJ and Denise twice a month.  This experience increases self-confidence and literacy skills.

Maddie is their Book Buddy, escorting students to and from the reading room.

Read with Me™ - Madison County Elementary School

Emerging readers read to a specially trained therapy animal who listens quietly. A photograph is taken and printed as each book is read. The student adds the photograph to a book they are creating. At the end of the semester, every student has their own book to read to their class. The result is increased confidence as a reader and improved literacy skills.

Sherry is their Reading Buddy, escorting students to and from the reading room. During the session, she takes and prints the picture.
